Two to seed.Then knockout.

Every match is 40 minutes — two 20-minute halves on a running clock. Play two group games, then everybody enters the bracket. Nobody goes home after one game.

Group Stage

Two matches

Every squad plays two group matches. Results are used purely for seeding — three points for a win, one for a draw. Group matches can end level; there is no extra time and no shootout at this stage.

Seeding

Every team advances

Nobody goes home after the group. Every squad reaches the knockout round regardless of results — the group only decides where you enter the bracket, with the highest seeds drawn against the lowest.

Knockout

Single elimination

One match, one life. Level at full time sends the tie to a single five-minute golden goal period — first goal wins it outright. Still level after that, and it is settled from the penalty mark.

Know before you play — the card system

Yellow

2-minute time penalty

The carded player leaves the field immediately and their team plays a field player down for the full two minutes on a running clock. They cannot be replaced by a substitute during the penalty. Two yellows in the same match becomes an automatic red.

Red

Immediate ejection

The player takes no further part in that match, cannot be replaced, and their team finishes the match a player down. Two red cards across the tournament day means a ban from that player’s next scheduled match.

3 games

Guaranteed for every registered player, win or lose.

Winners takeEverything.

There is one champion, and they do not leave empty-handed. The winning squad takes the trophy, and every single player on it walks away with something of their own.

The Trophy

One trophy, lifted once. It goes home with the winning squad and their name goes on the first page of DMV Muslim League history.

Medals

Every player on the winning squad takes a medal home. Not one per team — one each, earned on the pitch.

Jerseys

Jerseys for the entire winning team — a kit for every player on the squad that lifts the trophy.

03 — Community & Vendors

Come for the game, stay for the community.

The tournament is the reason to show up, but it is not the whole day. We are turning Paint Branch High School into a community gathering — food, vendors, local businesses, and a few hundred people from across the DMV in one place. Whether you are playing or watching, there is a reason to be there from morning to the final whistle.

Vendors on site

Local food and small businesses set up along the touchline all day. Come hungry.

Family welcome

Bring your parents, your siblings, your kids. Spectating is free and everyone is invited.

04FAQ

EverythingYou asked.

Still stuck? Email us before you register and we will answer it properly.

Yes — you play as part of a team. Everyone signs up individually, and each player enters their team name on the registration form. One player per team checks the box confirming they are the captain, so we know who to coordinate with before matchday.

Three. You play two group matches, and every squad advances to the knockout round regardless of group results, so nobody’s day ends after ninety minutes of football. Go deep in the bracket and you play more.

40 minutes, split into two 20-minute halves, with a 3–5 minute interval set by tournament staff based on the day’s schedule. The clock runs continuously and does not stop for cards, injuries, or routine stoppages.

Bring cleats (moulded studs, turf shoes, or athletic shoes — no metal studs), plenty of water, and coordinate a colour with your team so you match on the day. Balls, goals, water, and pinnies are all provided. Jewellery and watches must come off before kickoff.

$30 per player, paid in full to confirm your spot. Submitting the form alone does not reserve a place — registration is only confirmed once payment and all required forms are received.

You must be 18 or older to agree to the terms yourself. Players under 18 can take part only if a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to the terms on their behalf.

Please do. This is a community day, not just a tournament — spectating is free, vendors and local businesses will be set up on site, and the touchline is where most of the atmosphere lives.

Play continues in normal conditions. DMV ML may delay, shorten, reschedule, relocate, or cancel the tournament for weather, venue availability, or safety, and will notify registered players as promptly as possible.

Registration fees are non-refundable except where DMV ML cancels the tournament outright, or as stated in a separately published refund policy. Registrations are also non-transferable to another player or event without written approval.

Check in by the time listed on the tournament schedule, and be at your field at least 10 minutes before kickoff. A squad that cannot field the minimum of five players within five minutes of its scheduled kickoff may forfeit that match.
