02Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

Please read carefully before registering. By registering, you agree to all terms below.

Registration Terms · Governed by Maryland law

01

Acceptance of Terms

  • By submitting a registration for the DMV Muslim League ("DMV ML", "we", "us", or "the League") one-day soccer tournament (the "Tournament"), each registering participant agrees to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
  • Registration is individual — each player must register and agree to these terms personally. No captain, coach, or other participant may register or agree on another player’s behalf.
  • Registration is not confirmed until payment (if applicable) and all required forms are received from that individual player.
02

Eligibility & Registration Requirements

  • Each player must complete their own individual registration, including payment (if applicable) and all required forms, prior to the registration deadline. Unregistered or walk-on players are not permitted to participate.
  • Players must meet any age requirements published for the Tournament.
  • DMV ML reserves the right to verify player identity and registration status at check-in and may require valid photo ID.
  • Team assignments, whether self-formed or assigned by DMV ML, are for match play only and do not affect the individual nature of each player’s registration and agreement to these Terms. Any changes to team assignments or player participation after the registration deadline are subject to DMV ML approval.
03

Assumption of Risk

  • Soccer is a physical contact sport that carries inherent risks of injury, including but not limited to sprains, fractures, concussions, collisions with other players or fixed objects, and, in rare cases, catastrophic injury or death.
  • By registering and/or participating in the Tournament, each participant acknowledges and voluntarily assumes all such risks, whether known or unknown, arising from participation, whether caused by the negligence of other participants, spectators, DMV ML, venue staff, or otherwise.
04

Release and Waiver of Liability

  • To the fullest extent permitted by law, each participant (and, where applicable, their parent or legal guardian) releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue DMV Muslim League, its founders, partners, organizers, volunteers, sponsors, and the owners and operators of the host venue (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, illness, or death that may be sustained by the participant while participating in, travelling to, or attending the Tournament — regardless of whether such loss, damage, or injury results from the negligence of the Released Parties — except to the extent caused by the Released Parties’ gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
  • DMV ML does not provide medical or supplemental accident insurance for participants. Participants are strongly encouraged to carry their own health and accident insurance.
  • Participation is voluntary, and each participant confirms they are physically fit and medically able to participate.
05

Indemnification

  • Each participant agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to that participant’s own acts or omissions during the Tournament, including but not limited to injury caused to another participant or spectator, or damage caused to venue property or DMV ML equipment.
  • This indemnification obligation is in addition to, and separate from, the release described in Section 4.
06

Medical Emergencies & Emergency Contact Information

  • In the event of an injury or medical emergency, DMV ML organizers or on-site staff may arrange for emergency medical care (including calling EMS) at the participant’s own expense. By registering, participants consent to receive emergency first aid or medical treatment if needed and unable to give consent at the time.
  • Each player must provide a current emergency contact name and phone number as part of registration. Players who fail to provide this information may be denied participation at check-in.
  • Players are responsible for disclosing to DMV ML staff, at check-in, any medical condition that could reasonably affect their ability to safely participate.
07

Property & Equipment Damage

  • Each participant and spectator is responsible for their own conduct and must respect the host venue’s property (fields, fencing, goals, locker rooms, parking areas, and surrounding facilities) as well as DMV ML equipment (balls, cones, jerseys, signage, tables, and other tournament equipment).
  • Any individual participant or spectator who intentionally or negligently damages venue property or DMV ML equipment will be held personally and financially responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement.
  • DMV ML reserves the right to remove from the Tournament, and pursue reimbursement from, any individual responsible for such damage.
08

Personal Property

  • DMV ML and the host venue are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal belongings, including phones, wallets, bags, and vehicles left in venue parking areas.
  • Participants and spectators bring personal property onto the premises at their own risk.
09

Required Equipment & Prohibited Items

  • Metal cleats and studs are not permitted; only moulded cleats, turf shoes, or athletic shoes approved for the playing surface may be worn.
  • Jewellery, watches, and other hard or sharp items must be removed before play for player safety.
  • Alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, and smoking or vaping are strictly prohibited on venue grounds. Any participant or spectator found in violation is subject to immediate removal from the Tournament and, at DMV ML’s discretion, a ban from future events under Section 10.
10

Code of Conduct, Ejection & Bans

  • No fighting, physical altercations, threats, harassment, or abusive language toward players, referees, staff, or spectators.
  • No unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to excessive dissent toward officials, deliberate dangerous play, or intimidation.
  • No discrimination or harassment of any kind based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, disability, or any other protected characteristic. DMV ML has zero tolerance for such conduct.
  • Compliance with all instructions from referees, tournament staff, and venue personnel is required at all times.
  • DMV ML may issue warnings, cards, or immediate ejection of any individual player or spectator from a match or the Tournament grounds for violating the Code of Conduct.
  • DMV ML may disqualify an individual player from the remainder of the Tournament, with no refund, if the violation is severe or repeated. If disqualification leaves a team unable to field enough players to continue, that team’s remaining matches may be forfeited; this does not entitle any other player on that team to a refund.
  • DMV ML may ban any individual — player or spectator — from participating in or attending future DMV ML events, for a period determined by DMV ML, in cases involving fighting, violence, threats, discrimination or harassment, repeated misconduct, or other serious violations.
  • Decisions regarding ejection, disqualification, and bans are final and at DMV ML’s sole discretion and apply only to the individuals involved. No refund will be issued to any individual player removed from the Tournament for a Code of Conduct violation.
11

Check-in, Attendance & Forfeiture

  • Each player must check in by the time specified in the Tournament schedule, for example a set number of minutes before their first match.
  • Players who fail to check in by the deadline, or whose team cannot field the minimum number of players at kickoff, may forfeit that match with no refund.
  • Tournament and match start times may shift on the day of the event; players are responsible for monitoring schedule updates from DMV ML staff.
12

Fees, Payment & Refunds

  • Each player’s registration fee must be paid in full, individually, by the stated deadline to confirm that player’s spot.
  • Registration fees are non-refundable except as expressly stated in DMV ML’s refund policy, if published separately, or in the event DMV ML cancels the Tournament outright.
  • A player’s registration is non-transferable to another player, tournament, or event without DMV ML’s written approval.
13

Weather, Rescheduling, Cancellation & Force Majeure

  • DMV ML reserves the right to delay, shorten, reschedule, relocate, or cancel the Tournament, in whole or in part, due to weather, venue availability, safety concerns, or other circumstances beyond its control. This includes events of force majeure such as extreme weather, natural disaster, public health emergency, government order or restriction, loss of venue access, or other circumstances DMV ML could not reasonably have avoided.
  • In such cases, DMV ML will make reasonable efforts to notify registered players promptly.
  • Refunds, credits, or rescheduling in these situations, if any, will be at DMV ML’s discretion, and DMV ML will not be liable for any costs participants incur as a result, such as travel, gear, or time off work.
14

Photo, Video & Media Release

  • By participating, each participant grants DMV ML permission to photograph, film, and record their participation and likeness during the Tournament, and to use such images, video, and footage for promotional, marketing, and social media purposes, without compensation.
15

Rules of Play; Protests & Disputes

  • All matches will be governed by the tournament rules and format published by DMV ML prior to the event, including game length, number of players per side, substitution rules, and tiebreakers. Referee decisions on the field are final. DMV ML reserves the right to make reasonable adjustments to the schedule or format on the day of the Tournament as needed.
  • Any protest or dispute regarding a match result, officiating call, or player eligibility must be raised with on-site tournament staff before the end of the Tournament. Decisions made by tournament staff on such protests are final and not subject to further appeal after the event concludes.
16

Data & Communications Consent

  • Information collected at registration, such as name, phone number, email address, and emergency contact information, will be used by DMV ML to administer the Tournament, communicate updates, and share information about future DMV ML events.
  • DMV ML will not sell participant information to third parties.
17

Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

  • These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
  • Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Tournament that cannot be resolved informally with DMV ML will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
18

General

  • These Terms & Conditions represent the entire agreement between the participant and DMV ML regarding the Tournament and supersede any prior understandings.
  • If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
  • DMV ML may update these Terms & Conditions prior to the Tournament; the version in effect at the time of check-in will govern.
