Terms and Conditions
Last updated: October 16, 2026
These terms apply when you use this website, create a DMV Muslim League account, or register for or take part in a DMV ML league season, tournament or other event. By doing any of those things you agree to them. Please read them carefully — in particular the sections on risk, the release of liability, and refunds.
01About these terms
“DMV ML”, “the League”, “we” and “us” mean DMV Muslim League. “You” means anyone who uses the site, holds an account, or registers for or takes part in an event, as a player, captain or spectator.
How we handle your personal information is covered separately in our Privacy Policy, and our use of cookies in our Cookies Policy.
02Event terms and rules
Every league season and tournament has its own Rules of Play and registration Terms & Conditions, published on that competition’s page under the Rules tab. You agree to those when you register. If anything on this page conflicts with an event’s own terms, the event’s terms apply to that event.
03Eligibility and accounts
- You must be 18 or older to create an account and agree to these terms yourself. A player under 18 may take part only where the event’s age requirements allow it and a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to the terms on their behalf.
- Registration is individual. Each player registers, pays and agrees to the terms personally; no captain or teammate can do so for you.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date. Keep your password private — you are responsible for activity on your account.
- We may verify identity and registration status at check-in, and may ask for photo ID.
- We may suspend or close an account that is used to break these terms, impersonate someone, or interfere with the site or other users.
04Registration, teams and captains
- A league registration is confirmed only once payment has been received. You can join an existing team with its invite code, create a team as its captain, or register as a free agent and be placed on a team by the League.
- Captains may share their team’s invite code and edit the team’s name, description, logo and banner. Placing, moving and removing players, and assigning jersey numbers, is done by League administrators.
- Team names, crests and anything else you upload must be your own to use and must not be offensive, misleading or infringe anyone else’s rights. We may change or remove anything that is.
- Team colours are assigned by the League so that no two teams in a season clash.
- Any change to team assignments or participation after the registration deadline is subject to League approval.
05Fees, payment and refunds
- The registration fee is per player — captains and free agents included — and is shown before tax on the season page. Where an early-bird price applies, it is available through the end of the stated last day, Eastern time. Maryland sales tax is added at checkout, where the full total is shown before you pay.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. By paying you also agree to Stripe’s terms for that payment.
- Registration fees are non-refundable once paid, except as expressly stated in a refund policy DMV ML publishes separately, or in the event DMV ML cancels the season or tournament outright.
- If you are accidentally charged twice for the same season, the duplicate payment is refunded.
- No refund is given for a forfeited game, for missing games, or to a player removed or disqualified for a Code of Conduct violation.
- Registrations cannot be transferred to another player, season or event without the League’s written approval.
- If something has gone wrong with your registration or payment, contact us at dmvmuslimleague@gmail.com.
06Assumption of risk
Soccer, basketball and the other sports we run are physical contact sports. They carry inherent risks of injury, including sprains, fractures, concussions, collisions with other players or fixed objects and, in rare cases, catastrophic injury or death.
By registering for or taking part in any DMV ML event, you acknowledge these risks and voluntarily accept them, whether known or unknown, and whether caused by the negligence of other participants, spectators, DMV ML, venue staff or anyone else. You confirm that you are physically fit and medically able to take part, and you are responsible for telling event staff about any condition that could affect your ability to play safely.
07Release of liability and indemnity
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you (and, for a minor, their parent or legal guardian) release, waive, discharge and agree not to sue DMV Muslim League, its founders, partners, organisers, volunteers and sponsors, and the owners and operators of our venues (the “Released Parties”), for any loss, damage, injury, illness or death arising out of taking part in, travelling to or attending a DMV ML event — including where it results from the negligence of the Released Parties — except to the extent caused by their gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties against claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your own acts or omissions at an event, including injury you cause to another person and damage you cause to venue property or League equipment.
DMV ML does not provide medical or accident insurance. You are strongly encouraged to carry your own. In an emergency, staff may arrange medical care, including calling EMS, at your own expense, and you consent to emergency first aid or treatment if you are unable to consent at the time.
08Code of conduct
DMV ML is built on faith, fitness and fellowship. Everyone at our events — players, captains and spectators — is expected to compete hard and behave well. In particular:
- no fighting, threats, harassment or abusive language towards players, referees, staff or spectators;
- zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, disability or any other protected characteristic;
- no alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons, smoking or vaping at any venue;
- follow the instructions of referees, League staff and venue personnel;
- respect venue property and League equipment — you are responsible for damage you cause.
We may warn, eject, suspend or disqualify anyone who breaks these rules, and may ban them from future events. Decisions on conduct are made at the League’s sole discretion and are final. The same standards apply online — on this site and in our community channels.
09Photos, video and media
By taking part in or attending a DMV ML event, you grant DMV ML permission to photograph, film and record your participation and likeness, and to use those images and footage on this website, on social media and in promotional and marketing material, without compensation. If a particular image concerns you, contact us and we will review it — see our Privacy Policy.
10Scheduling, weather and cancellation
Game times, venues and formats may change. We may delay, shorten, reschedule, relocate or cancel any game or event, in whole or in part, because of weather, venue availability, safety concerns or other circumstances beyond our control, including events of force majeure. We will make reasonable efforts to tell registered players promptly, and you are responsible for keeping up with schedule updates.
In those situations any refund, credit or rescheduling is at the League’s discretion, and we are not liable for costs you incur as a result, such as travel, kit or time off work.
11Personal property
DMV ML and our venues are not responsible for lost, stolen or damaged personal belongings, including phones, wallets, bags and vehicles. You bring personal property to an event at your own risk.
12Using the website
- Do not misuse the site: no attempts to access accounts or data that are not yours, to disrupt the service, or to scrape it in bulk.
- Schedules, results, standings and statistics are entered by volunteers and may contain mistakes. Official results are those confirmed by the League; tell us if you spot an error.
- The DMV ML name, logo and site design, and the photos and video we publish, belong to DMV ML or our partners. You may share links and our posts, but may not use our marks or media commercially without permission.
- The site is provided “as is”. We work to keep it available and accurate but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
- To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you arising from the website is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous twelve months.
13Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally with us will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state or federal courts located in Maryland.
Protests about a match result, officiating call or player eligibility must be raised with event staff on the day, as set out in the relevant Rules of Play; decisions on them are final.
14Changes and general terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date and, for significant changes, tell account holders before they take effect. Continuing to use the site or take part after a change means you accept it.
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the terms of any event you register for, are the entire agreement between you and DMV ML.
